It is not cruel to confine a puppy to a crate so long as the reason for confinement is beneficial to the puppy’s learning and security. Take a moment to view the crate as a den rather than a cage ~ a quiet, cosy cave where your puppy can sleep and feel safe. Drape an old sheet over the top and sides.
